Whenever the public are outside of their home environment they place their trust on companies and local authorities to ensure their safety.
These venues require provisions for inspection and testing of electrical installations, regular maintenance of emergency lighting systems and inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances.
Local authorities around the country issue licenses for these types of premises, under the Cinemas Act 1985, a requirement of which is to ensure that the electrical installation has been inspected on an annual basis by a qualified electrical engineer.
The Cinemas Act 1985 requires all electric fittings, wiring and appliances shall be constructed and maintained to the satisfaction of the licensing authority, and any alterations required by them, in writing, of any work (not being work executed in accordance with the Cinematograph (Safety)
Regulations 1955 shall be carried out forthwith.
